Bodies and F
Dear D,
I've been volunteering at a small island school with F and they've been working on body parts. One exercise F has them do is to draw a body on the board and label the parts. Here is the entire 1st grade class + one 5th grader and their body pictures.
Funny thing is....
...they all drew F! Here is real F with one of her portraits.
Love,
L

D & L in Thailand
D finally made it to Phuket! Hoorahhh
We stayed for two nights in Patong, at Tropica Bungalow Hotel. It was a great location: right off of Bangla Rd. so there was great customer/prostitute/ladyboy cabaret dancer/nightlife people watching to be done. :)
And the food was delicious.
Night 1: papaya salad, green curry pizza, and Massaman curry.
Night 2: Red curry and pad thai.
Afterwards we walked to the Jung Ceylon mall and watched Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole.
(Side note, there's a ship in a small pond inside the mall..)
The morning we left Patong we enjoyed some breakfast cocktails and crosswords.

Spore Project
Dear D,
M has been working on this Spore Project
for the better part of a month. This week we finally planted the mushrooms!
The site M chose was in front of the old school that was destroyed by the tsunami. I'm not sure who did the mural, but it's eerie..
The kids made all of the mushrooms. The project usually uses brown paper lunch bags, but M couldn't find any in Thailand, so she and the kids used newspaper and magazine pages. I think they look even better this way.

School Tour
Dear D,
My school is actually pretty big and it felt even bigger with all the kids at lunch, which is when I roamed around the halls and rooms with my camera.
Teachers' heels outside of one of the offices.
Telephone for calling parents and relatives and friends. It is a boarding school after all.
