4th of July
…was GREAT! C and S came up from Phang-Nga and the whole group of us grilled corn with real butter, salt and pepper! We made faux hotdogs too. The sun was finally out after days of rain, so we were all basking in the great weather with our cold beers. A true ex-pat affair :P Afterwards we went to the beach and built a bonfire as the sun set over the ocean.
You know I’ve said my piece about the situation with your concussion… so I won’t get into that again. I just hope you feel better as soon as possible. I know you have the tournament soon, but for crissakes take care of your body! And your noggin!
I took an incredible motorbike ride to Takuapa two evenings ago. The air was cool and the sunset was casting a golden glow over the fields and mountains. Everything looked like it was melting in butter. Unfortunately I don’t have the dexterity to whip out my camera while I’m steering my motorbike, so you’ll just have to believe me when I say it was breathtaking.
In other news, I finally released the spider I’ve been holding prisoner in a glass in my bathroom. It appeared a few nights ago while I was on the toilet; I saw movement from the corner of my eye and all of a sudden a giant spider unfurled itself on the tiles next to me. It was so big, the light was actually reflecting off of its eyeballs. I put a glass on that beast so fast it didn’t know what had hit it. I couldn’t bring myself to touch the glass again until today, so it’s been slowly starving in its glass cage. I feel pretty badly about that.
I’ve really enjoyed your photo countdown! Am about to pee my pants with anticipation for the final photos!!!
L and I cooled off with some coconut shakes on the beach before the 4th festivities.
Roasting corn!!
An incense-like swirl that you burn to keep mosquitoes away. Chang=cheap beer.
Good American grub. And Doraemon!
How many volunteers does it take to build a beach bonfire...
K’s boyfriend is visiting from Europe on Monday!! Wish I could be that lucky (nudge, nudge)… ;)
Love,
L
ooooooooo that spider must have been hungry roaming around your room. still have all of your toes?
ReplyDeleteyeah i'm hoping either that it's completely impossible to play or that i feel 100% by the time we start training in earnest on friday (thursday's just a low-key walkthrough of plays and formations). it's this being in the middle that's the worst! makes me feel worried if i play and like a hypochondriac if i don't
